What is the ARK-J Program Trismus Intervention Certification Course?
The ARK-J (Amplification, Resistance, and Kinetics-of the Jaw) Program is the first and only ASHA-approved CEU certification course for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) working with adults who suffer from trismus.
The ARK-J Program is an educational, workshop-style course that encourages clinicians to more closely examine the neuroanatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the jaw to guide therapeutic approaches to patients with trismus. The ARK-J Program is not a protocol for evaluating and treating trismus. Rather, the ARK-J Program is an evidenced-based course that relies heavily on the therapeutic principles of active and passive range of motion exercises (i.e. application of amplification and resistance exercises to improve the kinetics of the jaw) and trismus therapy research in order to more effectively tailor individual trismus treatment programs.
